# AI Data Intelligence

## SmartCert AI extracts data from supplier documents using your layout's field names, descriptions, and a proprietary document model.

Since supplier documents vary widely in format, language, and naming, extraction can sometimes miss the mark. This article covers quick fixes for the most common issues.

A few examples of common extraction issues that may occur include:

- Naming mismatches,  e.g., a document uses "Vendor" while your field is named "Supplier"
- Formatting shift: dates, numbers, or terms formatted differently by region
- Layout complexity: data buried in dense paragraphs, multi-page tables, or complex letterheads
