# Delete a SmartCert

## Quick guide to deleting a SmartCert

How can I delete a SmartCert? 

In some cases, a SmartCert may need to be deleted if it was created by mistake, contains incorrect information, or is no longer needed. There are two conditions that must be met for a SmartCert to be deleted.

A SmartCert can only be deleted if **both** of the following conditions are met:

1. You are the creator of the SmartCert.
2. The SmartCert has **not** yet been shared with a customer.

 **Note:** SmartCerts received from a supplier cannot be deleted, regardless of status. Only the original creator can delete a SmartCert, and only before it has been shared. 

If you created the SmartCert and have not shared it, there are two ways to delete it:

 Method 1: Delete from the Created Dashboard

1. Navigate to your **Created** dashboard.
2. Locate the SmartCert you wish to delete.
3. Click the **three-dot menu (⋮)** next to the SmartCert.
4. Select **Delete**.

Method 2: Delete from Within the SmartCert

1. Open the SmartCert you wish to delete.
2. Click the **trash icon** located in the top-left corner 🗑️.

If the delete option is unavailable, the SmartCert has likely already been shared with a customer. Once shared, deletion is no longer possible.
