SmartCert Email Monitoring
Turn vendor emails and documents into searchable SmartCerts
If you have vendors who aren't yet on the SmartCert network, email monitoring lets you turn their emails and documents into SmartCerts automatically.
Point a dedicated inbox at SmartCert, and the moment a certificate package arrives, we generate a SmartCert from the attached documents, extract the key data points you've configured, and add it to your Received dashboard.
You have two setup options:
- Existing users can forward individual supplier emails to inbound@smartcert.tech. The first 10 per month are free; anything beyond that requires a subscription.
- Set up a dedicated company inbox (e.g., certs@yourcompany.com) for us to monitor continuously. This is a paid feature, priced by how many SmartCerts you generate each month.
How to Set Up Email Monitoring
To connect SmartCert to an email inbox, choose one of two methods:
1. IMAP Protocol
IMAP is a widely used, universal method most email providers support for connecting external tools to an inbox. Think of it as a standard "language" that lets SmartCert and your email server talk to each other.
2. Gmail (OAuth)
If your company uses Gmail, setup goes through Google's own security system, called OAuth, instead. OAuth is a safer way to grant an app access to your account without handing over your password directly.
