Using Field Help to fine-tune how SmartCert reads your certs
Quick guide to optimizing AI data extraction with Field Help tool tips
SmartCert uses layouts to determine what data its AI pulls from cert packages, whether they're received from a supplier or uploaded manually. Layouts can be simple, capturing just a PO, part, and lot number, or more detailed, pulling chemical and mechanical properties. As documents come in, SmartCert automatically generates and organizes that data for your team to review and use.
Sometimes a supplier labels things differently than you do. Their job number might be your PO number, or their item number should map to your part number. That's where Field Help comes in. Field Help lets you give the AI specific directions for a particular data field, like where to look on the document or how to interpret what it finds, so the extracted data lines up with your own standards.
How to Add or Update Field Help
- Open the layout you want to update.
- Find the field you want to adjust.
- Click the arrow on the far right of the field to expand it.
- Add or update the instructions in the Field Help section.
- Click Save Layout.
Note: Getting the results you want may take a little trial and error. Don't hesitate to adjust your Field Help instructions and test again until the data is extracting the way you need it to.
