How to use the AI Compliance Summary to Review Certs

SmartCert's AI Compliance Summary streamlines certificate review by automatically analyzing incoming supplier documentation and summarizing compliance status based on relevant industry standards. This helps quality teams move faster, reduce manual review time, and identify high-risk certificates at a glance.

The AI Compliance Summary is generated for all SmartCerts received or created.

Each summary appears at the top of the cert and provides a concise, AI-generated analysis of:

  • Supplier and sub-tier supplier visibility

  • Applicable industry standards

  • Pass/Fail compliance determination

  • Noted compliance findings

What the AI Summary Includes:

Supplier and Sub-Tier Supplier Context
The summary identifies the primary supplier and any sub-tier suppliers referenced within the documentation, helping buyers trace material and process sources.

Compliance Analysis
The Compliance section displays:

  • The specific industry standards the AI checked against

  • How each standard was interpreted

  • Whether the documentation passed or failed each requirement

This allows users to quickly confirm whether required specifications are properly supported by the supplied documents.

Available Actions:

From the AI summary, users can take action immediately:

Approve
Marks the cert as approved and signals to the supplier that compliance has been verified.

Changes Required
Notifies the supplier that the documentation is incorrect, missing information, or did not meet compliance criteria. Use the Conversations tab to communicate requested updates. 

Download All Files
Download all files in the cert package for internal review or recordkeeping.

Chat With Supplier
Open the supplier chat panel found in the conversations tab to request clarification, provide instructions, or collaborate directly inside SmartCert.

Detail View
Click Detail View (available at the top-right of the summary and again at the bottom) to access the full SmartCert document viewer, including all files, data fields, and history.

Best Practices

  • Use the AI summary to triage certs quickly

  • Expand to Detail View for high-risk or complex certifications

  • Use Changes Required when documents fail compliance or need corrections

  • Collaborate with suppliers directly in chat to keep records centralized

Important Note

The AI Compliance Summary delivers an initial, AI-assisted assessment to help prioritize and streamline certificate review. Final determination of compliance must be completed and validated by a human reviewer.

Users remain responsible for confirming compliance against the original documentation.
